I is for Ice Cream!

Play Video

A few weeks ago I read this article in one of my favorite blogs. Could you really make ice cream in a bag?! What if you didn’t have half and half and didn’t want to run to the store because #pandemic?

Zayn and I put it to the test!

TOOLS

  • Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Quart Ziploc Bag
  • Gallon Ziploc Bag

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of whole milk or half and half (latter is creamier)
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1/3 cup of salt
  • lots of ice

Let's try it!

Wash hands

20+ seconds.

Water and soap.

Mix ingredients

Add the milk, sugar, and vanilla into the quart sized bag

Prep the ice bag

Fill half of a gallon sized ziploc bag with ice and add 1/3 cup of salt.

This makes the ice extra cold!

Put one bag inside the other

Make sure they are well zipped up. Put the small bag inside the ice bag. Have your kid shake and smoosh it! Watch video above for inspiration. Will take about 5-10 minutes depending on how aggressively you can shake it.

Enjoy your tasty treat!

We were shocked that this worked honestly. We used regular whole milk and it was delicious. It did melt super fast and maybe half and half holds a little better?!
