We interrupt our alphabet food learning with a fun STEM activity for toddlers: Fizzy Cubes!
This is a throwback to 2nd grade science class making volcanoes erupt with baking soda and vinegar. Except this time you get to watch things melt in a different way!
Fizzy Cubes Recipe
- Ice Cube Tray
- Squeeze bottle or syringe
- Plastic Bin
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 2 cups of water
- Food coloring
Water and soap. Just for good measure in case your kid puts these in his/her mouth!
Mix the water and baking soda
They aren’t the easiest to mix but try your best!
Add 5 drops of food coloring to each well
Practice counting! Liquid is better than gel.
Put in the freezer and wait a few hours
Waiting is hard.
Add vinegar to a squeeze bottle or syringe
Watch them fizz!
