We interrupt our alphabet food learning with a fun STEM activity for toddlers: Fizzy Cubes! 

This is a throwback to 2nd grade science class making volcanoes erupt with baking soda and vinegar. Except this time you get to watch things melt in a different way!

Fizzy Cubes Recipe

TOOLS

  • Ice Cube Tray
  • Squeeze bottle or syringe
  • Plastic Bin

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2 cups of water
  • Food coloring

STEPS

Wash hands

20+ seconds. 

Water and soap. Just for good measure in case your kid puts these in his/her mouth!

 

Mix the water and baking soda

They aren’t the easiest to mix but try your best!

Add 5 drops of food coloring to each well

Practice counting! Liquid is better than gel.

Put in the freezer and wait a few hours
